The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is considering switching domain the .az domain to a secure DNSSEC protocol, Intrans CEO Faig Farmanov said.

Farmanov said introducing a new DNSSEC security protocol under discussion at IntraNS and ICANN.

"The emergence of a new technology is a kind of invitation and attracts hackers. We intend to initially use a secure protocol in test mode. Accordingly, the full transition to a new security protocol will depend on its effectiveness and security requirements," he said.

Algorithm DNSSEC eliminates architectural DNS vulnerabilities through digital signatures.

DNSSEC is only used in three European domain zones.

The 10 top-level domains are expected to support the technology next year.

Twenty global domain zones have already made the transition.
