POS-terminals will be installed in Baku within 15-20 days, Azerbaijani Minister of Taxes Fazil Mammadov said at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers dedicated to the socio-economic development in the first quarter of 2012 and the upcoming challenges, chaired by the Azerbaijani President.

"At present, the installation of POS-terminals is ensured in hotels, trade facilities, recreation and entertainment centers, taxis, filling stations and other facilities indicated in the tourist map all over the country, including Baku," he said.

He said that at present, POS - terminals operate in 18,000 of 25,445, or 71 percent of active facilities in Baku, where they must be installed, as well as in more than 90 percent of the tourism facilities.

"POS-terminals will be installed in other facilities within 15-20 days," he added. "So, about 6,000-10,000 more POS-terminals will work. As a result of the conducted work, the number of POS-terminals has already exceeded 23,000. POS-terminals were installed by 9.3 times more in the first quarter of 2012 than in the same period of last year, including 4.6 times more - in the regions of the country."

He said that earlier, processing centers could register a maximum of 15-20 POS-terminals per day. But now as a result of using electronic procedures, this figure increased to 400.

"These are very important technical issues that have been worked out together with banks," he said. "The necessary technical materials which were integrated into the banks were brought from Finland. If necessary we can increase this amount to 500."
The minister said that cash registers were used at the filling stations, excluding the cases of filling by oil products and liquefied gas without giving receipts.

"The installation of these devices at 67.8 percent of the existing filling stations has been ensured," he said.
