A fourth generation 4G network from mobile operators Bakcell and Azerfon will be deployed till late 2012, Azerbaijani Deputy Communications and IT Minister Iltimas Mammadov told media today.

"A comprehensive approach to the consideration of the operators' appeal to deploy the networks and the allocation of the frequency spectrum and readiness of the operators' network is important," he added.

At present, Azerfon has completed installing base stations supporting Long Term Evolution (LTE) which has been chosen as a basic fourth generation technology. The new 4G includes the ability to transmit data in mobile networks at a speed of over 100 Mbit / s to mobile subscribers and 1 Gbit / s - stationary, which is 10 times more than in 3G networks.

The Bakcell Company conducted a pre-commercial demonstration of LTE in November last year during the BakuTel exhibition.
