Azerbaijani satellite starts airing Lebanese TV channels

The airing of the Lebanese TV channels via Azerbaijani satellite Azerspace-1 was launched, Azerkosmos JSC told Trend on Dec. 2.

The company said, currently 63 channels are being broadcasted via Azerbaijan's Azerspace/Africasat-1a satellite. Out of the total broadcasted TV channels only eight are local (namely, AzTV, ITV, CBC, Khazar TV, ANS TV, Medeniyyet TV, Idman Azerbaycan, Azad Azerbaycan TV).

Along with the TV channels some 11 radio channels are also being broadcasted via the satellite. The JSC Azerkosmos said the number of TV channels, broadcasted via Azerspace-1 satellite, will be gradually increased. Currently both standard and live broadcasting of TV channels is being carried out.

Azerbaijan's first telecommunications satellite - Azerspace/Africasat-1a was launched in February 2013. The satellite is designed to provide the services of digital TV, data transmission, creation of VSAT multi-service networks and ensuring the government communications.

Azerspace/Africasat-1a satellite's service area includes the countries of Europe, the Caucasus, Central Asia, Middle East and Africa. Azerspace-1 satellite is located at the orbital position of 46 degrees east longitude.
