Uzbek businesses to allocate some $150 million for intro of ICT systems

Uzbek enterprises will allocate nearly $150 million in 2014-2015 for introduction of information and communication systems and software products on their production base.

Uzbek enterprises will allocate nearly $150 million in 2014-2015 for introduction of information and communication systems and software products on their production base, according to a decree of Uzbek President Islam Karimov.

The measures envisaged by the president's decree will focus on reduction of production costs, ensuring the reliability and transparency of financial and economic activities of economic associations and large enterprises, as well as increasing their competitiveness in domestic and foreign markets.

The decree also approved the list of 86 priority projects on introduction of ICT systems and software products in the country's real economy in 2014-2015. Uzbekneftegaz National Holding Company will make the largest volume of investments in the mentioned projects (nearly $110 million), while Navoi and Almalyk mining and metallurgical combines will invest some $10 million each.

Uzbek president instructed the joint-stock companies, associations, large industrial enterprises to annually include separate clauses in their business plans and provisional expenses on introduction of information and communication systems and software products, as well as training of employees.
