By Huseyn Valiyev - Trend:

The participants of the Trans-Eurasian Information Super Highway (TASIM) construction project have begun to prepare the business component of the project, Minister of Communications and High Technologies Ali Abbasov said.

At present, the TASIM project involves countries such as Russia (Rostelecom operator), Kazakhstan (KazTransCom operator), Turkey (TurkTelecom operator), and China (China Telecom operator). In this project Azerbaijan is represented by the Center for International Relations and Calculations under the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies.

The preparation of the business component of the project is carried out in the framework of the Eurasian Alliance (Eurasian Connectivity Alliance - EuraCA), the minister said.

The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution supporting Azerbaijan's initiative on the creation of EuraCA and construction of the TASIM information highway last September.

The UN has already adopted two resolutions on the TASIM project, which acts as a platform to facilitate international cooperation and sustainable development in the field of information and communication technologies.

TASIM is a regionally significant project aimed at laying trans-national fibre-optic lines covering Eurasian countries, from Western Europe to Eastern Asia.

The project envisages the creation of a major transit line from Frankfurt to Hong Kong.
The network that brings together the biggest information exchange centers of Europe and Asia will run through the territories of Azerbaijan, Turkey, Georgia, China, and Kazakhstan, to Germany.

An alternative north transit communication line will be laid through the territories of Russia, Ukraine and Poland.

The project is aimed at reducing poverty, accelerating economic growth. It may also play a leading role in region's development.

The TASIM project intends to connect a total of 20 countries. Its implementation will eliminate the information gap between Western Europe and the Pacific Basin.
