Ukraine expands number of TV and radio channels broadcasted via Azerbaijani satellite

Ukrainian Television and Radio Companies are interested in broadcasting of their content through Azerbaijani Azerspace-1 satellite, a source in the telecommunications market of Azerbaijan told Trend.

The negotiations on the cooperation of Ukrainian broadcasters with the Azerbaijani satellite operator "Azerkosmos" JSC were held in the framework of the 20th International TV and Radio Fair held in Kiev on June 17-19.

The JSC staff made a presentation of the rendered services. A number of Ukrainian TV channels are broadcasted through Kiev teleport via Azerspace-1 satellite in accordance with the arrangement between the "Azerkosmos" JSC and Ukrainian state-owned "Ukrkosmos" enterprise.

The possibility to put other Ukrainian TV and Radio companies into the resources of the Azerspace-1 satellite through Kiev teleport was also noted during the meeting.

Kiev teleport was opened in 2010 by SES SIRIUS company. It considers the provision of high quality communication through reliable channels, as well as the ability to provide customers with additional services.

"Azerkosmos" JSC and "Ukrkosmos" signed a partnership agreement on the withdrawal of a number of Ukrainian TV channels on the "Azerspace-1" satellite in March 2014.
At present, "World Service" state television company, Ukrainian Television and Radio Broadcasting", State TV and Radio company "Culture", " Lviv TV ", Kyiv State Regional TV and Radio company and CP INFO are broadcasted through the "Azerspace-1" resources
Azerbaijan's first telecommunications satellite Azerspace/Africasat-1a was launched on February 8, 2013. The satellite is designed to render digital television and data transmission services, provide creation of multiservice VSAT networks and ensure government communications. Azerspace/Africasat-1a satellite's service area includes countries in Europe, the Caucasus, Central Asia, Middle East and Africa.
