By Huseyn Valiyev - Trend:

Azerbaijan and Iran will define priorities for cooperating in the area of postal services, Azerbaijani Communications and High Technologies Ministry told Trend on Aug. 14.

The ministry said that currently the two countries' agendas include the issues of cooperation in shipment of mail, postal money transfers, issue of postage stamps, and use of the countries' transit capacities for the mail delivery.

"The latter envisages creation of opportunities to deliver mail to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic by land," the ministry said.

Azerbaijan-Iran cooperation in the postal service will be consolidated by an agreement between the two countries' postal operators. The details of the agreement will be discussed at the two parties' forthcoming meeting in Iran.

The dates of Azerbaijani side's visit to Iran have not been yet disclosed.

It is possible that the document on cooperation in this area will be signed during the Azerbaijani delegation's visit to Iran.

The issue of cooperation between the two countries in the area of postal services was raised in early August within the Azerbaijani-Iranian intergovernmental commission on trade-economic and humanitarian cooperation.

Under the agreement, the parties will start discussions on the legal aspects of cooperation in this field.
