Baku, Azerbaijan, Aug.18
By Huseyn Veliyev - Trend:

Researches of Azerbaijani scientists in the field of high technologies may be considered for participation in the "Horizon 2020", director of the Regional Information Technologies Academy (RITA) Tofig Babaev told Trend.

Horizon 2020 is the biggest EU Research and Innovation programme ever with nearly €80 billion of funding available over 7 years (2014 to 2020) - in addition to the private investment that this money will attract, according to EU's website.

The projects of Azerbaijani scientists will be presented to the European research institutes (ERI) within the frameworks of the largest event "Info Day", dedicated to "Horizon-2020", which will be held on 6-8 October in Florence (Italy), Babayev said.

Preparation of proposals of Azerbaijani scientists will begin from August 25. Last year Azerbaijan presented 23 research projects. The projects of the Institute of Cybernetics of the National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), the Research and Training Center of the State Social Protection Fund (SSPF), the National Aerospace Agency and the Azerbaijan State Economic University were among them.

Projects on monitoring of state of the cardiovascular system of a person with a mobile phone, on the development of the intellectual-information system for monitoring and diagnosis of poisoning by toxic substances, on monitoring of condition and selection of the best ways for laying the main oil and gas pipelines were also represented.

Tofig Babaev noted that the main task is to form a consortium of Azerbaijani and European Research Institutes for further cooperation in joint projects.

Formation of the consortium promotes the release of scientific researches of the Azerbaijani scientists into the world market.
Moreover, the creation of a consortium with European companies will allow Azerbaijani scientists to obtain the right to participate in tenders for EU funding for research and innovation within the framework of "Horizon-2020" (2014-2020).
