Launch date of commercial TV broadcast in Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan publicized

The launch of commercial TV package under the brand name "NarTV" in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic is scheduled for October 2014, the "B & BTV Communications" company told Trend.

Service "NarTV" will be implemented together with the mobile operator of Azerbaijan "Azerfon" LLC. Digital content broadcasting will have a DVB-T2 standard.

The second generation of digital terrestrial television and radio broadcasting system standard DVB-T2 can be used for fixed, mobile and other techniques, and its payload is a 30-50 percent higher than the payload of the previous version (DVB-T) in the same conditions.

Test run of a commercial package of digital TV in Nakhchivan was carried out in May this year, and the package was available for public viewing until May 20.

Commercial package will consist of 70 channels, which includes also a local TV channel "Nakhchivan TV" in HD. The minimum monthly fee for viewing the commercial package will cost 7 AZN. An antenna broadcasting the digital content is installed on Duzdag broadcasting station.

At present, a social digital package comprising all the republic-wide TV, TRT Turkish TV channel and two local TV channels ("Channel 35" and "Nakhchivan TV") is available to the population of the Nakhchivan.

Broadcasting of digital content will be in MPEG-4 format. The subscribers must purchase a decoder for the transition to digital broadcasting. The cost of these devices in the domestic market is 25-30 AZN.

The official exchange rate for August 19 is 0,7842 AZN / USD.
