Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, Nov. 11 / Trend News H. Hasanov /

A Japanese delegation arrived in Ashgabat and discussed the agenda of Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedow's first official visit to Japan in December 2009.

The issue was discussed with Japanese Foreign Ministry Central Asia Special Representative Nobikatsu Kanehara at round-table talks at the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

The Japanese companies Itochu, Mitsubishi, Marubeni, Mitsui, Komatsu and Jay GC have supplied Turkmenistan with road-building and digging equipment. They have also reconstructed oil and gas processing facilities in the country. As a rule, Japanese banks have provided loans for these projects.

Japan has stated its readiness to provide know-how, equipment and long-term loans to lend a hand in advancing the Turkmen economy.

"The Japanese government fully supports the active development of a fruitful dialogue with Turkmenistan, which has received a new dynamic in recent years," Japanese Emperor Akihito wrote the Turkmen president in a message.

Both countries have repeatedly stressed their mutual understanding of key issues in international and regional development.
