![]() Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, Dec. 21 / Trend Capital H.Hasanov / Turkmenistan could contribute to diversification of energy routes to Europe via transit through Turkey, Turkish President Abdullah Gul said in his letter to his Turkmen Counterpart Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov. The Turkmen leadership has already declared that Europe can rely on the Turkmen gas to fill the Nabucco pipeline. Nabucco gas pipeline project is worth € 7.9 billion. Participants of the project are Austrian OMV, Hungarian MOL, Bulgarian Bulgargaz, Romanian Transgaz, Turkish Botas and German RWE companies. Each of participants has equal share to the amount of 16.67 percent. Construction of gas pipeline is planned to be launched in 2011, the first supplies - in 2014. Maximal capacity of the pipeline will hit 31 billion cubic meters per year. According to Gul, energy cooperation will "further enhance the welfare of nations (Turkmenistan and Turkey) and strengthen fraternal and friendly relations rooted in the historical community, culture, language and religion." He also stressed that he satisfied with the opening of the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline. "There is no doubt that the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline that opened a new scale of energy cooperation among Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and China, will also have a positive impact on regional development and stability," the letter says.
