Interest of European countries, including France, towards Turkmenistan can be explained with the country's recognized status as one of the world's leading energy powers, the Turkmen Foreign Minister reported.

Turkmenistan and France had talks at the highest level Feb.1 and today, Paris will host a joint business forum.

"Intersection of Turkmen and French interests to address such pressing issues of international politics, as the global energy security, serves for the development of an effective partnership," the ministry said.

Turkmenistan supplies gas to Russia, Iran and China.

The format of the country's participation in the Nabucco pipeline project, which will grant European consumers access to natural resources in the Caspian region, is under discussion.

Turkmenistan implements a foreign policy aimed at developing and deepening relations with international partners, taking into account not only its own national priorities, but also the interests of the entire world community.

A resolution adopted by the Turkmen president in 2008 - "A reliable and stable transit of energy resources and its role in sustainable development and international cooperation" - is an example of constructive cooperation between our countries, a statement says.
