![]() Azerbaijan, Baku, Oct. 28 / Trend Capital / S.Aliyev / Fili ship, which suffered disaster in the Caspian Sea and was rescued by the Azerbaijani specialists, will be allowed to continue sailing after the classification society Russian Maritime Register of Shipping in Azerbaijan conducts the relevant measures to inspect the ship for navigation safety and compliance with the international conventions, deputy head of the Azerbaijani State Marine Administration, Namik Agamaliyev, reported on October 28. At present, the ship has been taken to Baku. Experts are studying the causes of the accident, after which the damaged structures, equipment and machinery of the vessel will be repaired. Fili Ship sailing under the flag of Russia and owned by Russian company Vagna Shipping has been taken to the port of SOCAR's Caspian Se Oil Fleet. Earlier on Oct. 26 the ship suffered distress in the Andriyevsky banks of the Caspian Sea. On Oct. 26 at 12.30 the management of the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center of the port of Astrakhan addressed Azerbaijan for assistance. Two vessels of specialized fleet of Azerbaijan: Ayla and Avior were immediately sent to the disaster area to rescue Fili. Preliminary cause of the accident is that the heavy storm flooded cockpit and the engine compartment, resulting in the ship's electrical equipment switched off and lost control. The Russian ship has 1,781 tons of cargo, including 1,381 tons of stock steel, 400 tons of paper. Fili was sailing to the Iranian port of Nowshahr. There are no victims or injuries among the 11-member crew of the ship. Russian vessel Sarmat suffered disaster due to the same resons and was rescued by Azerbaijani specialists in late 2008. After repair in Baku, it continued its sailing. But there were trials on Russian shipowner's payment for services rendered by Azerbaijani specialists. Photos to news:
