At a government meeting Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedow stressed the issues of increasing the amount of rail transit of Uzbek goods on the territory of Turkmenistan.

The relevant agreement was reached as a result of the Uzbek President's official visit to Turkmenistan in December 2009.  

According to the Turkmen Governmental Press Service, the President approved the proposal to optimize tariff terms on Turkmenistan's and Uzbekistan's transit goods transport. The document was prepared by the sides at the inter-departmental level.  

The Turkmen President emphasized the necessity of continuing operations on further increase of mutually beneficial partnership in the fields such as transport and communication.
