The People's Assembly of Kazakhstan elected its candidates to Majilis (Parliament's lower chamber) on Jan. 16, Kazinform reported.

According to the chairman of Almaty election commission Marat Aubakirov, all nine candidates registered by the Assembly entered the parliament.

According to the Constitution, 98 members of the Kazakh Majilis are elected from parties' lists and nine deputies should be elected from the People's Assembly of Kazakhstan.

This year there were 393 Assembly's members in voter's lists and 335 took part in the election.

The Assembly is headed by Kazakh president Nursultan Nazarbayev and has such powers as: the nomination of candidates as members of the Majilis of the Kazakh Parliament, consideration of candidates for the Assembly, submitting proposals on the agenda of regular sessions to the Kazakh president, submitting proposals concerning an action plan of the Assembly's office (Secretariat); making other decisions, irrelevant to the exceptional jurisdiction of the Session.

The Assembly elects deputies to the Majilis for the second time in the Kazakh history.
