President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbaev met with the leading US international affairs and energy policy expert, Dr. Ariel Cohen of the Heritage Foundation, yesterday, Monday January 16, at the Ak Orda palace. President Nazarbaev discussed with Cohen regional and international developments and also commented on Kazakhstan's considerable economic progress in the last twenty years, and the recent parliamentary elections, which returned two opposition parties, Ak Zhol business friendly party, and communists, to Majilis.
Cohen, a member of TREND Advisory Board, is visiting Kazakhstan with an international expert election observation mission.
He also met with State Secretary Kanat Saudabayev, ministers, presidential administration senior officials, ambassadors and scholars.
He was interviewed by international TV channels and newspapers and appeared before scholars and journalists commenting on the geopolitical risks and the Kazakh elections.
