The new parliament of Kazakhstan gave a vote of confidence to current Prime Minister Karim Masimov's government.

Early parliamentary elections in Kazakhstan were held on Jan.15. According to their results, three parties - "Nur Otan" (the party leader is Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev), Ak Zhol Democratic Party and the Communist People's Party of Kazakhstan the Majilis (lower house of parliament) joined the parliament.

There are 107 seats at the Majilis in total: 98 members are elected on party lists, nine members are elected by the Assembly of Peoples of Kazakhstan (advisory body under the Kazakh President).
