Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev and Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral relations, as well as topical issues of regional cooperation within the meeting on Tuesday, the presidential press service reported.

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev is on official visit to Kazakhstan.

According to Nazarbayev, Kazakhstan highly appreciates that Medvedev paid the first visit to this country on the post of the Prime Minister.

"Russia and Kazakhstan demonstrate to the CIS and the whole world how the relationships between neighbors should be established. For 20 years we have established good-neighborly and allied relations on absolutely equal footing," Nazarbayev said.

According to Nazarbayev, Russia and Kazakhstan resolved a number of important historical issues in the period of Medvedev's presidency.

"We adopted a common customs tariff, set up the Customs Union, Single Economic Space, took some necessary decisions and adopted a number of documents. We decided concrete issues at the regional meetings," Nazarbayev said.

Medvedev in his turn urged not to interfere in a good tradition existing between Kazakhstan and Russia.

"Besides good relations, Kazakhstan and Russia have special strategic partnership. I think we have advanced significantly in our bilateral cooperation and created a very powerful integration union. The project which we actively discussed in the 1990s was at last realized," Russian Prime Minister said.

Within the meeting Medvedev promised to develop and strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries.
