A sharp increase in crime is observed in Kazakhstan, First Deputy Chief of the Nur Otan People's Democratic Party faction in the Majilis Ergen Doshayev said today.

"Over 128,000 crimes were registered in the country in 2007," he said today at a government meeting dedicated to the activity of the Kazakh Interior Ministry. "As of November 1, 2012, there are 237,000 criminal acts. Moreover, a sharp deterioration in the crime situation falls to 2011-2012."

He added that the number of robberies has increased during this period. Hooliganism has doubled. Thefts have tripled.

"In other words, it is dangerous to walk along the streets and our citizens are at risk of being beaten and robbed every day," he said.

He stressed that the quality of the activities of investigatory bodies under the Interior Ministry has decreased.

"The country has significantly reduced crime detection," he said. "Around 63.64 percent of the total number of committed crimes was solved in 2007. In 2012 this figure was only 45.6 percent. That is, more than a half of all crimes remain unsolved today. Robbers, thieves and robbers are at large. The principle of inevitability of punishment for their crimes remains on paper."

He said Kazakh police officers continue to embellish statistics on crime, while this trend is growing.

"In 2007, the prosecutors revealed a little over 3,000 hidden facts of crimes and registered them in interior bodies," he said. "More than 6,300 illegal acts that were hidden and were not registered in the Interior Ministry were revealed in the country in 2011."
