Kazakhstan to take part at World Energy Council Int’l Summit

The International Summit of the World Energy Council (WEC) will today start in Beijing, during which the Kazakh delegation from KazEnergy Association will present its vision on the Strategy of transition to green economy, KazEnergy Association Deputy Chairman Jambulat Sarsenov said over phone from Beijing.

The International Summit of the World Energy Council (WEC) will today start in Beijing, during which the Kazakh delegation from KazEnergy Association will present its vision on the Strategy of transition to green economy, KazEnergy Association Deputy Chairman Jambulat Sarsenov said over phone from Beijing.

"The aim of the Summit is to discuss some scenarios of the global energy till 2050 focusing on such power-hungry points of the world as China and Asia. Our delegation will present its vision on the Strategy of energy development focusing on green economy," Sarsenov said.

He said the WEC International Summit will be held on April 24-25 in Beijing.

The whole WEC China International Summit will focus on the energy ambition of the new Chinese government.

Leading experts and scholars, representatives of the largest energy companies from around the world will discuss the role played of coal, nuclear, hydropower and other technologies in the energy balance in China until 2050, the amount of investments to be needed to meet the needs of China's energy system, the role of environmental factors and renewable energy in the country.

One of sections of the meeting will be dedicated to the problems of coal power and its influence on climate.

The meeting will be attended by WEC President Pierre Gadonneix and WEC Secretary General Christoph Frei.
