A telephone conversation was held between the chairman of Kazakh parliament's senate, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev and chairman of Iranian Majlis (parliament) Ali Larijani.

The conversation was held at Iran's initiative, according to a message from the Kazakh senate.

"Larijani informed his Kazakh counterpart about the progress made in preparations for the ninth session of the conference of member-states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Parliamentary Union, to be held on February 14-19 in Tehran. Tokayev said a representative delegation of Kazakh parliamentarians will be sent to participate in this forum," according to the message.

Aside from that, the speakers of Kazakh and Iranian parliaments agreed to hold talks this year on the development of inter-parliamentary relations and cooperation, as well as to discuss the situation in the region.
