Former head of the Kazakh Competition Protection Agency, Bolatbek Kuandikov was appointed chairman of the Consumer Rights Protection Agency, the Prime Minister's website said today.

'Kuandikov has been appointed chairman of the Consumer Rights Protection Agency on a government decree today', a report said. 'Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov introduced a new head in the afternoon and outlined the agency's priorities'.

"The new agency faces the challenges of protecting consumers and domestic producers," he said. "Ensuring food safety, control of sanitary and epidemiological situation, the technical regulation of products and services are among its priorities."

"It is necessary to work out the proposals for improving and establishing a state policy in the consumer protection sphere soon," he said.

Bolatbek Kuandikov was born in the Kyzylorda region on February 14, 1969. He served as vice - minister of emergency situations and the president's special representative at the Baikonur complex at various periods. He headed the competition agency from 2013 to January 2014.
