The Kazakh city of Astana will build 50 kilometers of bike lanes in time for the international exhibition EXPO -2017, Kazinform reported with the reference to the head of the Sports and Physical Education Agency Tastanbek Esentayev.
"We initiated a project on building of bike lanes for EXPO-2017 in Astana. The first phase of the project will be completed before the international exhibition starts," Esentayev said at a briefing on March 5.
The project will be implemented in three phases. Bike lanes construction will start in 2014.
Astana has only four kilometers of specialized bike lanes now.
