Fiji and Kazakhstan officials met to discuss bilateral cooperation in the field of tourism.

Chairman of the Tourism Industry Committee of the Kazakh Ministry of Industry and New Technologies Marat Igaliyev and Fiji's Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Kazakhstan Ravindran Ravindran Robin Nair held talks on the issue, the Kazakh Tourism Industry Committee said on April 2.

"Robin Nair said that the Republic of Fiji plans to open the consulates in the northern and southern capitals of Kazakhstan," the committee said.

During the meeting the sides also discussed Fiji's experience on stimulating and drawing the investments in the development of tourist facilities of the two countries, in particular the double taxation, the revision of tax rates and the implementation of the projects in the special economic tourist zones.

The Kazakh side has invited representatives of the National Tourism Administration of the Republic of Fiji to the Astana Economic Forum, as well as the EXPO international exhibition in 2017. The Fijian side invited Kazakh people for the Asia-Pacific forum in June.

Igaliyev stressed that the parties agreed to begin working on the conclusion of the memorandum on mutual cooperation in tourism between Kazakhstan and the Republic of Fiji as part of the further development of bilateral cooperation.
