Russian and Kazakh Prime Ministers Dmitry Medvedev and Karim Massimov agreed to continue regular contacts at a governmental level within the telephone talk on April 3, the Russian government press-service reported.

"Medvedev and Massimov agreed to continue regular contacts at the governmental level to discuss issues of mutual interest," the press-service said.

Medvedev congratulated Massimov on his appointment to the post of the Prime Minister.

During the conversation, the Russian prime minister praised the current level of development of the Russian-Kazakh relations.

Earlier, former Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov resigned and his resignation was accepted by the president. The resignation of the Cabinet of Ministers head means resignation of the whole government, according to Kazakhstan's legislation. Meanwhile, the ministers will continue to perform their duties until new appointments are made, according to the country's legislation.
Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev proposed the candidacy of Karim Massimov to the post of the new prime minister. Massimov previously held this post from 2007 to 2012. The candidacy was approved by the Kazakh parliament.
