Talgat Mukhtarov was appointed Deputy Defense Minister upon Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev's order, the official website of Akorda said on April 10.

Bagdat Maykeev was dismissed from the post of deputy defense minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan upon the presidential order.

The Kazakh defense ministry has been headed by former Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov since April 3.

He replaced Adilbek Jaksybekov who has headed the defense ministry for almost five years.
