China is ready to provide its assistance to Kazakhstan in holding EXPO-2017, Kazakh First Deputy Prime Minister Bakytzshan Sagintaev said.

The issue will be discussed within the framework of the forthcoming visit of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev to China, he said.

"The program also includes participation of the head of state, together with his Chinese counterpart in the ceremony of remote launch of construction of the marine terminal in the Lianyungang port. At present, work is underway on a number of joint projects in the oil and gas, energy, mining and transport sectors," the deputy premier said.

A framework agreement on the cooperation between JSC "Development Bank of Kazakhstan" and the China Export & Credit Insurance Corporation in the amount of $400 million is scheduled to be signed, Sagintaev said.

Particular attention will be paid to the joint use of transboundary rivers.

"It is necessary to note regulated mechanism for addressing issues of equitable distribution of water resources in transboundary rivers such as Khorgos in this regard. There is an agreement between the parties on the construction of water distribution facilities on the Ulken Ulasti River," he said.

Kazakhstan and China hold talks on the provision of special railway tariffs from the Chinese side for Kazakh coal supplies to the southern regions of China in the amount of one million tonnes and more, as well as for deliveries of ferroalloys, according to Sagintaev.

He noted that the cooperation of Kazakhstan with China in the oil and gas industry is developing rapidly. The question of financing the second phase of the Beyneu-Bozoi Shymkent gas pipeline has been resolved, and the construction of the second stage of the Kazakhstan-China oil pipeline has started.

As the Accorda press-service reported, at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, President Nazarbayev will pay a state visit to China from May 19 to 20 and attend the 4th Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) Summit in Shanghai.
