An earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale was recorded in Kazakh Almaty region on July 31, Kazakhstan's Seismological Expedition of the Science Committee under Education and Science Ministry reported.
The earthquake occurred at 2:46 a.m. local time (July 30, 8:46 p. m. Greenwich time), 125 kilometers to the north-west of the city of Almaty.
There is no information about victims or damage.
