The heads of committees of the Kazakh Energy Ministry were appointed, the ministry said Aug. 26.
Talgat Momyshev was appointed chairman of the committee for environmental regulation, control and state inspection in the oil and gas industry. Sungat Esimkhanov was appointed chairman of the committee for atomic and energetic supervision and control.
The functions and powers of the Oil and Gas Ministry were transferred to the Ministry of Energy established as a result of the reform of public administration system on August 6, 2014.
The Ministry of Industry and New Technologies transferred the functions in the formation and implementation of state policy in the field of electricity, and nuclear power.
The Ministry of Environment and Water Resources transferred the functions in the formation and implementation of public policy in the sphere of protection, control and supervision of using natural resources, treating the municipal solid waste, developing renewable energy sources, monitoring of "green economy".
