Private car owners transferred 21.6 billion tenge ($ 1,182 tenge) to the budget of Kazakhstan for the first eight months of this year, according to the Ranking.kz analytical service.

"During the year the amount of taxes on vehicles collected from individuals increased by 8 percent (1.5 billion tenge)," the report indicates. The largest metropolis of the country, Almaty, provides 27 percent of the total vehicles taxes on individuals (5.7 billion tenge).

"But the biggest gain of car owners' taxes is in the Atyrau region (western Kazakhstan). The volume of car owners' taxes transferred in this region increased by 25 percent and reached 736 million tenge," the statement said.
