By Daniar Mukhtarov - Trend:

The construction of a rail assembly and structural plant is nearing completion in Kazakhstan's Aktobe Region, the region's governor, Arkhimed Mukhambetov said Sept. 12 at a press conference in Astana.

"The plant is unique for the fact that it will produce heat-strengthened rails of high quality that can be used on high-speed lines, and with increased traffic volumes," he said.

Mukhambetov said the new plant's design capacity is 430,000 metric tons per year (200,000 metric tons of rail products and 230,000 metric tons of long products). The project cost is $300 million.

The project is realized by the Transportation Technologies LLP in partnership with the National Company Kazakhstan Temir Joly (Kazakhstan Railways), the region's head said.
