Former vice minister of culture of Kazakhstan Janay Omarov was appointed Director-General of NUR-Media holding, Nur Otan party website reported Sept. 23.

"Janay Omarov was appointed Director-General of NUR-Media holding upon a decision of the only founder - Nur Otan party," he said. "Bolat Bersebayev has headed the holding since January 2014. He successfully restructured the assets, launched the financial recovery process, by fulfilling the tasks."

At present, the holding has a task to develop the content and ideological content. Bersebayev serves as the first Deputy Director General in the NUR-Media holding, the website reported.



Omarov was born in the city of Almaty in 1955. He is a Ph.D., an associate professor. He graduated from the Lomonosov Moscow State University in 1977 and post-graduate course at the Moscow State University in 1980. In different years, he served as head of the agitation and propaganda group - the press secretary of "Public staff in support of a candidate for the president of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev", the press secretary of the president of Kazakhstan, the head of the information-analytical center of the internal policy department under the presidential administration, the head of the PR office of the internal policy department under the presidential administration. He headed "Kazakh Information Agency" national company (Kazinform), "Kazakhstan" TV and radio channel and "Kazakhstan Truth" JSC. He served as Vice Minister of Culture of Kazakhstan till August 25, 2014.
