An earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale was recorded in Kazakhstan on Sept. 25, Kazakhstan's Seismological Expedition of the Science Committee under Education and Science Ministry reported.
The earthquake occurred at 11:59 p.m. local time (5:59 p.m. Greenwich time), 240 kilometers to the south-west of the city of Almaty.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located at a depth of 15 kilometers.
There is no information about victims or damage.
