Kazakhstan's Interior Ministry drafted a security concept for holding the international exhibition EXPO-2017, Kazakh Deputy Interior Minister Yerlan Turgumbayev said Sept. 30.

He made the remarks at the lower chamber of Kazakh parliament, known as the Majilis, during discussions on preparations for the exhibition.

"We drafted a security concept for holding the EXPO-2017. A republican headquarters, including all members of the security forces, was established. We almost completely control the EXPO-2017 construction project," Turgumbayev added.

He said a proposal was made to increase the staff strength of the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) of the city of Astana. The DIA will take part in the protection of public order during the exhibition.

"To date, the republican budget commission has supported the increasing of staff strength of the city's interior department to 1187," Turgumbayev said.

He added that the staff strength of 229 will be introduced this year, 200 - in 2015, and the remaining 987 - in 2016.

Turgumbayev also noted that the issue of teaching English to personnel is to be considered.

"Aside from that, our employees will be working in enhanced routine in the areas of tourists' and visitors' travel and accommodation, and near the stations and at airports," Turgumbayev said.
