By Daniar Mukhtarov - Trend:

Kazakhstan plans to legalize the resignation of managers if their subordinates are involved in a corruption scandal, the Chairman of the Kazakh Agency for Civil Service Affairs and Anti-Corruption Kairat Kozhamzharov said.

Kozhamzharov said that currently there is a provision, which concerns the political civil servants, adding that the amendment was made in 2013.

"If one of the manager's subordinates is convicted on corruption case, and if the sentence comes into force, then he/she has to resign," Kozhamzharov said at a plenary session of the Kazakh parliament's senate.

However, Kozhamzharov went on to add that this will happen only if that subordinate was appointed by the manager, or on the manager's approval.

He noted that Kazakhstan's President Nursultan Nazarbayev instituted in 2011 to introduce such regulations.

Kozhamzharov added that the manager's resignation is submitted to the head of state and is reviewed within a month.

"Next year we will submit for your consideration a large draft law on anti-corruption. In our opinion, the existing anti-corruption legislation is outdated and does not meet the modern requirements," Kozhamzharov said.
