By Elena Kosolapova- Trend: Kazakhstan and China discussed bilateral cooperation within the meeting of consultations of Foreign Ministries and the 7th Meeting of the Subcommittee on Cooperation in Security of Kazakh-Chinese Cooperation Committee in Beijing, Kazakh Foreign Ministry reported on Oct. 30.

Kazakh delegation was headed by Kazakh Deputy Foreign Minister Askar Mussin and Chinese - party - by Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Cheng Guoping.
During the consultations, the sides exchanged views on a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation as well as cooperation within the international organizations, including the UN, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia.

The sides expressed the view that regular ministerial consultations are one of the important mechanisms contributing to the promotion of the Kazakhstan-China comprehensive strategic partnership.
They also emphasis the importance of contacts at the highest levels and discussed the preparation for the official visit of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang to Kazakhstan and the second regular meeting of the heads of governments of Kazakhstan and China which will be held in December.

Kazakh party initiated discussion on creation of working groups for the study of electricity supplies from Kazakhstan to China and the organization of the bilateral Forum of Interregional Cooperation.
High Representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry confirmed China's willingness to start negotiating on bilateral intergovernmental agreement on division of transboundary water resources.
A number of consular and visa issues were also discussed.

Within the 7th Meeting of the Subcommittee on Cooperation in Security of Kazakh-Chinese Cooperation Committee the representatives of Chinese defense ministries of two countries noted the importance of strengthening cooperation in security area in terms of difficult international and regional situation, including in the Middle East, Afghanistan and Chinese Xinjiang.

The parties agreed to continue taking measures ensuring the safety of major joint economic and investment projects and deepen cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking, terrorism, separatism and extremism, as well as in the field of defense.

A Protocol reflecting the priorities of the Kazakh-Chinese cooperation in the security field was signed during the meeting.
