An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale was recorded in Kazakhstan on Dec. 4, Kazakhstan's Seismological Expedition of the Science Committee under Education and Science Ministry reported.

The earthquake occurred at 11:45 p.m. local time (05:25 p.m. Greenwich time), 31 kilometers to the south-east of the city of Almaty.

Tremors measuring 2-3 were felt in Almaty. It is the largest Kazakh city.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located at a depth of 15 kilometers.
There was no information about possible victims or damage.
