The incumbent president of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, won the presidential election, garnering, according to the final data, 97.75 percent of the vote, said the country's central election commission.

"According to the operational data from the electoral commissions, the votes were as follows: Turgun Syzdykov - 1.61 percent, Abelgazi Kusainov - 0.64 percent, Nursultan Nazarbayev - 97.75 percent," said the CEC on Apr. 28.

"Some 8,833,250 citizens voted for Nursultan Nazarbayev, which is the 97.75 percent of the vote," according to the CEC.

Kazakhstan held its presidential election on Apr. 26.
