PM appointed in Kazakhstan’s new government

President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev appointed Karim Massimov the prime minister in the new government, Kazakh presidency said April 29.

Before the appointment, Massimov's candidacy nominated by the president was supported by the heads of the parliamentary factions in Majlis (lower house of the parliament).

Earlier, in accordance with the law, the country's government resigned after the re-elected president of Kazakhstan took up his duties.

Massimov served as prime minister in the previous government as well.

Kazakhstan held presidential election on April 26. The country's incumbent President Nursultan Nazarbayev won as a result of the election with 97.75 percent of votes.
