Major Kazakh fund’s profit rises in 2015

Kazakhstan’s National Welfare Fund Samruk-Kazyna increased its total comprehensive income up to 607.32 billion tenges ($1,664,848,268 as of Feb. 1) in 2015.

Kazakhstan's National Welfare Fund Samruk-Kazyna increased its total comprehensive income up to 607.32 billion tenges ($1,664,848,268 as of Feb. 1) in 2015.

Samruk-Kazyna's profit was 72.99 billion tenges in 2014, according to the fund's unaudited financial statements published on the website of the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE).

The fund's operating income amounted to 565.37 billion tenges in 2015, compared to 14.1 billion tenges in 2014.

Samruk-Kazyna's revenue stood at 104.71 billion tenges in the reporting period, versus 312.48 billion tenges in 2014.

Meanwhile, the fund's reserves fell from 22.1 billion tenges to 5.13 billion tenges during 2015.

The fund's assets rose to 6.93 trillion tenges in late 2015 (5.69 trillion tenges at the end of 2014).

Samruk-Kazyna's assets include the KazMunaiGas JSC NC, Kazakhstan Railways JSC, Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company JSC (KEGOC), Kazakhtelecom JSC and Kazatomprom National Atomic Company.

Exchange rate as of Feb. 1 is $1/364.79 tenges.
