CEC: Voter turnout exceeds 60% in Kazakh election

As of 14:00 (UTC/GMT +4 hours), the voter turnout in the election of members for the Kazakh parliament and local representative bodies, known as the maslikhats, is more than 60 percent.

As of 14:00 (UTC/GMT +4 hours), the voter turnout in the election of members for the Kazakh parliament and local representative bodies, known as the maslikhats, is more than 60 percent, Secretary of the Kazakh Central Election Commission Bakhyt Meldeshov said, Kazinform agency reported.

"According to the data, obtained from the regional, Astana and Almaty election commissions, as of 14.00 (UTC/GMT +4 hours), 60.22 percent of the total number of voters, included in the lists, received their ballots," Meldeshov said.

He said that 54.71 percent of voters in Astana and 21.45 percent in Almaty, included in the lists, received the ballots.

As of 14:00 (UTC/GMT +4 hours), 69.97 percent of people voted in Akmola region, 57.01 percent in Aktobe region, 77.16 percent in Almaty.

Some 65.87 percent of people voted in Atyrau region, 66.70 percent in the East Kazakhstan region, 63.06 percent in Zhambyl region.

The voter turnout hit 56.37 percent in West Kazakhstan region, 59.2 percent in the Karaganda region, 68.17 percent in Kostanai region, 65.69 percent in Kyzylorda, 51.76 percent in Mangistau, 61.77 percent in the Pavlodar region, 61.2 percent in the North-Kazakhstan and 68.86 percent in the South-Kazakhstan.
