Kazakhstan reveals plans on oil shipment from Kuryk port through Azerbaijan

Commissioning of a new ferry terminal at Kazakhstan's Kuryk port in December 2016 will allow exporting cargos from Astana to global markets through Baku, Kazakhstan's national Transport and Logistics Center (TLC) told Trend May 23.

The new terminal will mainly export oil, polyethylene, iron ore and concentrates, said TLC.

The Center also said that it is planned to transship 360,000 tons of cargo from Kuryk terminal through Azerbaijan's territory in the first phase. The new terminal is expected to transship 200,000 tons of oil per year, 22,000 tons of polyethylene, 137,000 tons of iron ore and concentrates.

The center said that it is also planned to annually supply 82,000 tons of cargo from Azerbaijan to Kazakhstan via Kuryk port.

The volume of cargo transshipment may be increased in the future between the Kuryk port and ports of Azerbaijan, said TLC.
