Minister of Finance of Kazakhstan Bakhyt Sultanov and Vice-President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Wencai Zhang, who is on a visit to Astana, discussed prospects for further cooperation of the sides within the framework of the partnership program, which is being developed, Kazakh finance ministry said May 25.

"Particular attention was paid to the discussion of issues concerning the development of transport infrastructure, energy and lending to small and medium-sized businesses," said the ministry.

The minister noted that Kazakhstan intends to apply mechanisms of public-private partnerships during the implementation of public investment projects. In this regard, he offered the ADB a more active consideration of financing of the projects in this area without the use of government borrowing mechanism.

The ADB and Kazakhstan have been successfully cooperating for over 15 years. Over these years, the ADB has invested $3.7 billion in implementation of projects and programs in Kazakhstan.
