Kazakh and Russian presidents, Nursultan Nazarbayev and Vladimir Putin discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on the most actual issues of regional and international agenda at their meeting in Russia’s Sochi on Aug. 16, Kazakh presidential press service said.
The presidents also discussed the preparations for their forthcoming meetings at the G20 summit in China, the CIS Council of Heads of State in Kyrgyzstan, and the Kazakh-Russian interregional cooperation forum.
“I think our relations are exemplary both in political and in economic terms… Kazakh-Russian relations, based on the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance and the Treaty on Good Neighborliness and Alliance in the 21st Century, have remained stable. Kazakhstan and Russia are reliable neighbors and partners,” Kazakh president said.
Nazarbayev noted that about 6,000 joint Kazakh-Russian enterprises have been created and expressed hope that the forthcoming Kazakh-Russian interregional cooperation forum would foster cooperation in economy.
“I know this will be a significant meeting in the economic terms, and a lot of projects are developing now,” he said.
Putin in turn noted the successful development of strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and Russia, and expressed confidence that some slight decline in bilateral economic cooperation, provoked by instability in the world commodity markets and currency fluctuations, would be overcome.
