Stock trading down on Kazakhstan Stock Exchange

The volume of stock trading on Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE), decreased by 72.2 percent – to 250.2 billion tenges (84.3 percent decrease in US dollars to $744.1 million) in January-December 2016 compared to the same period of 2015, KASE reported.

Trading volume of public securities on KASE totaled 555.9 billion tenges in January- December 2016, which is 30 percent more than in the same period 2015. Trading volume of public securities in US dollar equivalent decreased by 28.8 percent to $1.61 billion in the reporting period.

Trading volume of corporate debt securities at KASE decreased by 59.7 percent and totaled 507.4 billion tenges in January-December 2016 as compared to the same period of 2015. Trading volume of corporate debt securities in US dollar equivalent decreased by 73.5 percent to $1.49 billion in this period.

The trade volume of repo operations at KASE increased by 146 percent and totaled 57.11 trillion tenges during the reporting period, as compared to January- December 2015. Repo operations in US dollar equivalent increased by almost 60.8 percent to $167.56 billion.
