Kazakhstan reduced the silver supply to foreign markets by 9 percent in 2016, said the message from Energyprom.kz analytical service.
The country exported 1,170 tons of unwrought and semi-finished silver, as well as silver powder in January-December 2016, according to the analytical service.
The volume of silver export from Kazakhstan rose in 2014-2015 and reached its peak of 1,280 tons (an increase by 23.8 percent) in 2015.
The production of unwrought and semi-finished silver stood at 1,180 tons in 2016, or 9.6 percent less than in 2015.
The major silver producers in Kazakhstan are KAZ Minerals, Kazzinc and Russian Polymetal International plc.
UK is the main importer of silver from Kazakhstan. The country started to supply this metal to Italy (0.002 percent of the country’s total export volume) in 2016. Kazakhstan also exported silver to Hong Kong in 2015.
