Kyrgyzstan attaches great importance to development of relations with European Council and PACE

First Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Djoomart Otorbaev met with the delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the European Council led by the deputy of the European Council from Switzerland Andreas Gross on Tuesday, the Information Support Department of the apparatus of the republic's government said.

Opening the meeting, Otorbaev said that Bishkek attaches great importance to the development of relations with the European Council and the Parliamentary Assembly of the European Council which are significant foreign policy partners for Kyrgyzstan.

"Kyrgyzstan is the first parliamentary democracy in Central Asia. We have more expectations from the creation of a new society and we work on the economic development, however, people, as it often happens, are impatient. It is sufficient to say that in 2012 we recorded over a thousand meetings and pickets. People have a right and opportunity the express their opinion and this is important for us," he said.

During the talks, the First Deputy Prime Minister and deputies of the European Council had exchange of views about the current socio-political and socio-economic situation in the country, discussed the further cooperation of Kyrgyzstan and the European Council.
