Kyrgyzstan imported 696,000 tons of oil products in January-August, Kabar news agency reported on Sept. 2 citing the President of Kyrgyzstan's Association of Oil Traders Medetbek Kerimkulov.

Kyrgyzstan imported 696,000 tons of oil products in January-August, Kabar news agency reported on Sept. 2 citing the President of Kyrgyzstan's Association of Oil Traders Medetbek Kerimkulov.

During the above mentioned period the country imported 381,600 tons of gasoline and 314,300 tons of diesel fuel. The commodity surplus amounted to 84,000 tons.

"Thus, the commodity surplus remains at the level that stably provides all regions' consumers with motor fuel. In general, the situation with the provision of fuel in the country is stable, a deficit is not foreseen", Kerimkulov said at the press-conference.

He added that the capacity of Kyrgyz oil products market amounts to one million tons per year. Over 50 companies are involved in the country's POL (Petroleum, Oil, and Lubricants) market, 20 of them are actively involved in oil products import and realization. The total number of filling stations in the country amounts to 653.
