Gazprom will supply additional 330 million cubic meters (cm) of gas to Kyrgyzstan for $165 per cm, Kyrgyz president's website said.

Gazprom Chairman of the Board Alexei Miller informed Kyrgyzstan's president Almazbek Atambayev about the company's decision to supply additional gas volumes. The decision about supplying Kyrgyzstan with additional gas volumes was made amid the severe energy crisis in the country.

Earlier, due to the electricity deficit in the country a decision was made to cut off all kinds of heating for upcoming winter. The situation is complicated with the decision of Uzbekistan to halt gas supplies to the south of Kyrgyzstan.

The mentioned 330 million cubic meters of gas will be directed to Zhambyl District Electrical Plantof Kazakhstan, which will enable to significantly reduce cost of electricity supplies from Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan.

In July Gazprom acquired 100-percent interest in Kyrgyzgas state company. Following the acquisition, Gazprom as well as its subsidiaries, will have the exclusive right to import natural gas to the country and will be protected against expropriation and nationalization in Kyrgyzstan.

Meanwhile, Gazprom will have to pay off KyrgyzGas's $40 million debt and guarantees to invest over 20 billion rubles ($612.8 million) in modernization and reconstruction of Kyrgyzgas's gas infrastructure in five years.
